Glossary
This glossary provides handy definitions to understand more about our API, cut through the jargon, and make the terminology easier to understand.

| API | Application Programming Interface | Method for computer systems to exchange data using defined standards and formats. | 
| ID | Identifier | A set of numbers or letters (or combination of both) used to represent a piece of data. | 
| JSON | JavaScript Object Notation | A text-based information format that follows JavaScript object syntax. | 
| MDU | Multi Dwelling Unit | Is a building that contains multiple residences or businesses. A building with multiple dwellings, business or residential. | 
| ONT | Optical Network Terminal | Equipment owned by Chorus and installed at a customer’s location. Typically, the ONT is connected to and terminates the Chorus Fibre Network and delivers Ethernet connectivity to a customer’s router. The router is usually provided to the customer by their RSP of choice. | 
| Place ID | Place ID | Unique address identifier used in Chorus fibre systems. Contains nine numeric characters. Also known as Telecom Location Code (TLC). | 
| Product ID | Product Instance ID | A 10-digit unique identifier (ID) within Chorus to represent an active service with an RSP. | 
| ROW | Right of Way | A right of way (ROW) is an easement that allows the owner of one property the right to pass over a specified area of another property. Multiple dwellings may share a common ROW space, such as a shared driveway. | 
| RSP | Retail Service Provider | A company that is a reseller of Chorus fibre products. |
