The following example scenarios assume that the endpoint is subscribed to receive Delegated Authorisation requests and all Transaction Notifications.

Approved Authorisation

The following example shows a typical authorisation flow for a payment scheme with a separate clearing phase. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to Delegated Authorisation and to Authorisation Transaction notifications.

Clearing

The following example shows a typical clearing flow for a payment scheme with a separate clearing phase. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to Delegated Authorisation and to Authorisation and Financial Transaction notifications.

Authorisation Expiry

The following example shows an authorisation expiration for a payment scheme with a separate clearing phase. An clearing instruction has not been received for an outstanding authorisation after a configured period of time.

Declines

The following example shows a typical decline for an authorisation triggered by the External Authorisation Endpoint. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to Delegated Authorisation and to Decline notifications.

'Same Day' Reversals

The following example shows a typical reversal authorisation flow for a payment scheme with a separate clearing phase. Such reversals are commonly termed 'same day' reversals and represent the cancellation of an authorisation that has not yet been cleared. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to Delegated Authorisation and to Authorisation Transaction notifications.

Partial Reversals

Some payment schemes allow an authorisation to be partially reversed such that the fund reservation is reduced but not cancelled entirely. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to Delegated Authorisation and to Authorisation Transaction notifications.

'Offline' Transactions

The following example shows a so-called 'offline' clearing flow for a payment scheme with a separate clearing phase which allows clearing instructions that do not match to authorisations. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to receive Financial Transaction notifications.

Single Phase (Auto-Cleared) Transactions

Some payment schemes support only a single processing phase rather than separate authorisation and clearing phases. Such transactions exhibit a reduced lifecycle and authorised transactions may have a financial impact. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to Delegated Authorisation and to receive Financial Transaction notifications.

Reversal of Auto-Cleared Transactions

Reversal of an auto-cleared transaction will generate a new transaction to represent the negation of the original. The ORIAN External Endpoint is subscribed to Delegated Authorisation and to receive Financial Transaction notifications.
